  • Provision of information for all students at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences with a focus on sensitisation and awareness raising for equal treatment
  • Cooperation(s) with local associations and events

FAQ

I would like to participate myself. Do I have to belong to the LGBTQIA* community?

No! Everyone is welcome at the Queer Department - regardless of gender, sexuality, age, origin or other supposed "characteristics".

Of course, if you want to support the department and the LGBTQIA* students, you should also be open-minded and tolerant and have understanding for the problems and difficulties of being queer.

Is there really a need for such a department?

Those who ask themselves or others this question are one of the reasons why there is just such a deparment and why it is part of the Student Union at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.

The Queer Department has made it its mission to give all students a space where you can be who you are.
We also want to raise awareness and sensitise people who are not open-minded towards queer people.

What is the LGBTQIA* Stammtisch

The LGBTQIA* Stammtisch is intended to give all students the opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and ultimately have a great time together.

It is expressly about not about creating a "dating platform" or something similar. Nevertheless, it is often the case that you don't always know which of the students around you are also queer. Maybe you don't dare to ask or you want to avoid an embarrassing situation. The Stammtisch therefore creates a safe environment and shows you that you are not alone and that there are people around you who understand and can support you.
